WORLD TEACHER’S DAY 2023 KEYNOTE SPEECH DELIVERED BY MR. JOSEPH TETTEY AFANGBE
Empowering Lives and Creating a Resilient Society.
I bring you warm greetings from Management and the Board of Young Visionary Leaders Ghana (YVLG). YVL is a youth-led Non-Governmental Organization which was established on the 6th march, 2015 in Accra Amasaman Ghana. It was registered with the government of Ghana at the Registrar General Department Accra, under the company act, 1963(act 179) with the registration number CG027002016 and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection under the department of Social Development with the Registration Number d.s.d/7000
As a recognized National Non-Profit and Grass Root Organization that works in the thematic areas of Education SDG4, Water SDG6, Child / Youth Empowerment, Health SDG3, Social Protection and Accountability SDG10, we have for the past eight (8) years initiated and implemented life changing and development programs that transform and inspire the lives of venerable children and young people in the deprived communities we work with in Ghana. We seek to empower lives and create a society where everyone most especially children and young people have access to basic human rights and needs. The YVLG works with communities in identifying solutions to their problems with the overall aim of contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) the 2030 Agenda.
YOUNG VISIONARY LEADERS INTERNATIONAL has been granted Special Consultative Status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) after a lengthy application and approval process. We are excited to announce that our organization is now formally accredited as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) through special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
Access to sustainable, clean and potable water is a necessity and a fundamental basic human right that we need to enjoy. Donate to our cause to help provide safe and clean water for some deprived communities.
There are thousands of vulnerable children, women and people with disabilities who do not have access to clean drinking water in some deprived communities in Ghana. These communities mainly rely on contaminated river and lagoon waters for survival. High rate of child mortality is recorded in these communities since children are exposed to water borne diseases such as cholera, typhoid fever and dysentery which in most cases cost them their lives. Children dropout of school due to lack of water.
COVID-19 has had a drastic effect on all our lives, but it has impacted the poor the most. Since the announcement of the lockdown, Young Visionary Leaders Ghana has been supporting emergency feeding programmes in poor communities to alleviate hunger.
